I know this post is 3 years old, but I need to reply. Windows does not randomly blow up 5 minutes after turning on. Never has (Other than WinME). I am not sure how anyone could come to this conclusion, ever. Ignorant, flaming posts like this just annoy the heck out of me, especially those biased, untrue Mac commercials. Even back when this post was written, WinXP was stable and reliable. I do not even bother running virus software, and never had an issue. Software does not randomly get installed without the user agreeing somewhere. Be it an ActiveX issue, some program installing other crap, etc etc etc.

With Vista now, its even further refined. Go ahead and cry about your inability to use the most popular OS to date, I will use it quite happily, and without frustration.

Remember that the Windows population is so huge, there are more people developing/enjoying the OS than the entire Apple/Linux/Unix communities combined. And yes, there are frustrated users from those camps as well.
